East Mills forces eight turnovers in 68-12 homecoming win
Luke Schafer tossed seven touchdown passes, five to Daniel Duysen, and the East Mills football team improved to 6-0 on the season with a 68-12 victory over Villisca on Homecoming in Malvern.
The Wolverines (6-0 overall, 4-0 in the district) racked up 377 yards in the win. Schafer finished 12-of-12 passing for 204 yards and matched a career high with his seven touchdown passes. He also added 58 yards rushing, including a 5-yard touchdown scamper.
All five of Duysen’s catches went for touchdowns. Kyle Steiner caught three balls for 81 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
The Wolverines defense forced eight turnovers.
Duysen wrapped up nine tackles on defense, including three sacks, picked off a pass and recovered a fumble.
Steiner intercepted two passes and had a tackle on defense.
The Wolverines host Nishnabotna on Friday. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
