Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Hertz Funeral Home in Glenwood with burial in the Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday, May 17 at Hertz Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the family.
Darrell, the oldest of six children of Louis E. Miller and Esther L. Ridnour, was born Oct. 13, 1945, in Lenox.  He graduated Lenox High School in 1964. In 1965, he joined the Operator’s Engineers Union Local No. 571.  In 1974, he became a civilian employee at Offutt Air Force Base in the snow removal department and worked there until the mid-1980s. In the early 1980s, he was also a partner in E & M Excavating Company and worked on many projects in and around Glenwood and the Omaha Metro Area. In 2002, his health forced him to retire, but in December of that year, he was honored for his years of service.
In addition to his professional career, Darrell took great pride in his family. When his girls were younger he took them everywhere, including camping and even roller-skating. He was very proud of owning a Corvette.  He liked antiques, working in his yard and even the occasional trip to the casino.  One of his fondest memories, however, was a trip to Yellowstone where he went panning for gold. He also couldn’t quit talking about the “pink snow.”
Darrell was preceded in death by his grandparents; first wife, Karen McFee Miller; sister, Janice Peterson; and nephew, Dustin Nelson.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Miller of Sidney; father, Louis Miller and wife, Marlene; his mother, Esther Miller, all of Bedford; daughters, Aaron Harless (Ronnie) and Brooke Burgoin, all of Glenwood; his wife Donna’s children, Kane Razor (Tina) of Glenwood, and Hope Norstadt of Ashland, Neb.; siblings, Karolyn Nelson (Gary) of Creston, Joyce Majors (Bruce) of Bedford, Richard Miller of Clarinda, Karen Wiederholt of Bedford, and Lori Beemer (Chad) of Elkhorn, Brian Seil of Fremont, Neb., brother-in-law, Joe Peterson of Bedford and nine grandchildren.
