Cletus F. Lepeska, 89, Johnston

    Cletus ‘Clete’ Francis Lepeska, 89, entered his eternal life on April 21, 2010, at Mercy Hospice, Johnston. Mass of Christian Burial was held  Monday, April 26, 2010, at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Glenwood, with visitation one hour prior. Burial followed the mass in Glenwood Cemetery. There was a visitation on Sunday, April 25, 2010, at Our Lady of Peace Chapel at Bishop Drumm with a Rosary Service.

    Mr. Lepeska was born in Fennimore, Wis., to Frank and Martha Bollant Lepeska and had lived many years in Glenwood until moving to Martina Place Assisted Living in 2009. He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Agriculture and worked for Swift and Co., as a quality assurance manager until his retirement on July 1, 1983. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Glenwood chapter, Swift Retirees Group and the Heritage Travel Club. He was a 1978-79 Iowa Knights of Columbus, Knight of the Year. Cletus enjoyed traveling throughout the US, Canada, and many foreign countries. He and his wife wintered in Mission, Texas, at the W&I resort. Among his hobbies, he liked to work the newspaper’s Daily Jumble, volunteer at Davies Amphitheater in Glenwood and make macrame chairs to sell at craft fairs.

    He will be missed by his wife, Maxine Lepeska of Johnston; son, Duane (Rita) Lepeska; and daughter, Denise (Brian) Zimmerman both of Urbandale. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Danette in 1971, his sister, Loretta Batten and his parents.
