Carroll Aistrope, age 85 of Tabor

Carroll Aistrope, age 85 of Tabor, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, following a brief illness.  Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at the Randolph United Methodist Church with Rev. Jan Phillips officiating. Interment was in the Tabor Cemetery.

    Mr. Aistrope was born July 9, 1924, near Tabor, to Clyde Aistrope and Nellie Ann (Baggs) Aistrope.  He was a 1941 graduate of Tabor High School and had completed the Iowa State University Agriculture Short Course in Ames.  On Oct. 18, 1959, he was married to Jeanette (Cobb) Keller in Des Moines.  He farmed near Tabor and Randolph for his entire life and greatly enjoyed working with his cattle.  He was always very active with the Fremont County Fair serving on the Fair Board for many years and was active with fair events, even weighing calves until 2006.  He was also a member of the Mills-Fremont Rural Fire Protection District and served on their board for many years, a member of the Randolph United Methodist Church, Farm Bureau and a couples bridge club.  He loved playing cards, spending time with his brothers, and visits with his grandchildren.

    Mr. Aistrope was preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Aistrope of Tabor; daughter, Mary Ann Akromis of Omaha; son, John Aistrope and wife Patty of Tabor; and daughter Judy Wooton and husband Brad of Rockford; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Warren Aistrope of Tabor; and David Aistrope of Randolph; numerous beloved nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Mills-Fremont Rural Fire Protection District or the Tabor Rescue Squad. The Crawford-Marshall Funeral Chapel in Tabor was in charge of arrangements.
