C. Clifford Johnson, 68, Fort Dodge

April 13, 1943 - November 4, 2011

    Clyde Clifford “Cliff” Johnson, 68, of Fort Dodge, passed away Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. The service honoring Cliff’s life was held Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, at First Presbyterian Church in Fort Dodge with the Rev. J. Faulkner Martin and the Rev. Austin Hill officiating. Interment was in the Elfsborg Lutheran Cemetery near Pomeroy. Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family. Arrangements were made by the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.  
    Cliff, the son of Clyde Sr. and Florence (Lindbloom) Johnson, was born April 13, 1943, in Cherokee. He graduated from Storm Lake High School and while in high school worked for Horner and Olson Grocery. On June 26, 1965, Cliff married Karen Marlys Olson in Storm Lake. He then worked for Swanson’s Grocery in New Ulm, Minn., and later in Fort Dodge. Cliff attended Iowa Central and received a degree in Industrial Technology. Cliff established his own business and installed many sound and public safety radio systems. Cliff and a partner started Bolt Security and installed electronic surveillance and security systems. After selling both businesses, Cliff worked for Honeywell for 15 years. He then accepted a position with Fort Dodge Laboratories where he was the calibration standards coordinator. Cliff also taught computer classes at Iowa Central as well as computer technology classes for many business and industrial clients. At the time of his death, Cliff was the technology director at First Presbyterian Church.  
    Cliff was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served on many committees and was an Elder. He enjoyed anything technical or computer-related and music of all kinds. He had a deep love for sports, especially the Hawkeyes. He was a member of the chancel choir at his church and was also a member of Sonshine Singers. Cliff treasured time spent with his grandchildren in his new man cave.
    Cliff was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Karen; his daughters, Kia (Scott) Deuel and Kari (Todd) Constable, all of Fort Dodge; Kris (Sean McNamee) Johnson of Minneapolis, Minn.; grandchildren, Zachary, Alex and Jacob Deuel; and Noel, Gabrielle and Joseph Constable; his brother Gary (Sherry) Johnson of Glenwood; nephew, Brant (Therese) Johnson of Waukee; and niece Jana (Terry) Manning of Waukesha, Wis.
