Byron L. Crawford, 89, Dexter

March 7, 1922 - April 7, 2011

    Byron L. Crawford, 89, of Dexter, known as Barney to family and friends, was cremated and his children will bury his ashes at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Central Iowa.
    Byron was born in Bouton,  March 7, 1922, to Fred and Emma Crawford. In November 1942, he joined the Army Air Force and was an engineer on the B-24s. He received an honorable discharge in March  of 1946. In 1945, he was united in marriage to Donna Phleger, and to that union two children were born, James Crawford and Rebecca (Carl) Raber.  Also left to mourn are two grandchildren, Michael and Chad Keltner; and two great-grandchildren, Daniele and Chloe Keltner.  He is also survived by special family friend, Robert Hunter.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Eugene.
    Arrangements were handled by The Cremation Society of Iowa.
