Rams blank Fillies on road


Glenwood’s Allison Koontz hit a home run at the plate and tossed a shutout in the circle in the Rams’ 5-0 win over Atlantic in Hawkeye 10 Conference softball last week.

Allison Koontz smacked a home run and allowed just one hit and struck out eight in the circle for Glenwood in a 5-0 victory over Shenandoah in Hawkeye 10 Conference softball Thursday.

Koontz was 2-for-5 on the night with a double and an RBI.

“Alli had a good day both pitching and at the plate against Shenandoah,” said Glenwood coach Ellie Roenfeld. “Defense was solid behind her for the shut out and we were making adjustments at the plate to move runners and score.”

Malynn Johnson led the Rams with three hits and two runs driven in.

Alyssa Liddick and McKenna Wilkes added two hits each.

Peyton Athen surrendered 15 hits and six earned runs to take the loss in the circle.

Glenwood 0

Delaney Mathews tossed a no-hitter for Treynor in a 6-0 win over Glenwood in non-conference softball last Tuesday.

Mathews struckout 10 and walked just one in the win in the circle while also going 2-for-2 with an RBI at the plate.

Claire Schrage singled and drove in two runs for the Cardinals.

Allison Koontz took the loss for the Rams after allowing six hits and three runs while striking out four.

Rams pick up road
sweep at Kuemper

Glenwood went on the road and picked up a pair of Hawkeye 10 Conference wins over Kuemper Catholic in Carroll last Monday.

The Rams won game one 10-1 and then capped the sweep with a 4-2 in in game two.

Alli Koontz went the distance in the game one win, allowing one hit and no earned runs while fanning five. She also went 2-for-4 at the plate with an a double and an RBI.

Audrey Albers led the Rams at the plate in the opener, smacking a home runs and driving in three runs on her three hits. Alyssa Liddick and Addy Thiesen added two hits each and McKenna Wilkes singled and drove in two runs.

In game two, Liddick tossed a complete game, scattering five hits and two earned runs.

McKenna Wilkes had two hits and drove in two runs and Sammy Wilcoz singled and drove in two runs for Glenwood in the victory.
