Rams’ Johansen finishes season at state

Glenwood’s Audrina Johansen, shown here earlier this seasob, was 1-2 at the Iowa Girls State Wrestling Meet.
Glenwood’s Audrina Johansen went 1-2 at the Girls Iowa State Wrestling Meet at the Xtream Arena in Coralville.
The Ram senior 120-pounder opened her state debut with a 7-4 win over Ballard’s Evelyn Faubus to advance to the quarterfinals.
But Johansen would fall her next match to Abigail Meyrer of Pleasant Valley to drop the to the consolation bracket when she saw her season come to an end with a pin by Carlisle’s Anya Oatts.
“Audrina had a good first round match beating the No. 5 girl,” said Glenwood coach Brads Asche. “We weren’t in an ideal spot in the bracket; we had to wrestle the eventual state runner up next round, and had a heart breaker in the blood round. We put the girl to her back but she rolled us through and we got caught.”
Johansen, a Quincy University recruit, finishes her season with a record of 47-5.
Asche said her leadership and work ethic will be sorely missed.
“She was one of the hardest working wrestlers I’ve coached,” Asche said. “it was not the ending we wanted to her career at Glenwood, but she will be better for it in the future and she has a bright future.”
