Distance runners lead Rams at SC Relays
Glenwood’s Andrew Smith picked up four medals at the Sioux City Relays Saturday.

No team scores were kept but Glenwood coach Mark Starner was pleased with his team’s progress.
“We still have some areas we need to improve in and focus on improving those events, as well get everyone healthy and back on the track so we will be ready to make a run in the postseason,” he said.

Rams second at Council Bluffs Invite
Glenwood won four events and finished second in the team standings at a very windy eighth annual Council Bluffs Invitatonal at the Wickersham Athletic Complex Thursday.“
We knew entering the meet that times were not going to be easy to improve with the wind gusts over 35-plus miles per hour winds,” said Glenwood coach Mark Starner. “However, we battled and at the end of the night scored 105 points to claim team runner ups.”
The Rams’ 105 team points were second only to Southeast Polk’s 131 points.
Bryant Keller (800-meters) and Reagan Skarnulis (shot put) picked up the Rams’ individual medals. Keller ran a meet best 2:03.52 while Skarnulis had the throw of 51 feet. 5.5 inces.
Glenwood’s 4x100-meter relay team of Jackson Mulkins, Trey Darden, Keaton German and Patton Longmeyer ran 43.79 to top the field and the distance medley relay group of Longmeyer, Darden, Cooper DeLashmutt and Andrew Smith ran a 3:45.80 for first place.
Starner didn’t run his full compliment of athletes at the meet, preferring to hold some competitors back in lieu of the up coming Sioux City Relays.
“We battled all night despite not putting together our strongest line up, we still finished runner up in the team race to Southeast Polk,” Starner said. “We placed in 15 of the 19 events and again, our leaders led us competing the whole way.”
