Rams Topple Creston, Drop Twin Bill To Harlan
The Glenwood varsity baseball team posted a 1-2 record last week, defeating Creston 3-1 on Tuesday night and dropping a pair of games to Harlan on Thursday by identical 7-3 margins.
In the win over Creston, four Glenwood pitchers - Cob Baker, Brady Wheeler, Zak Mumm and Wyatt Schultz - teamed up to limit the Panthers to four hits. Cobb picked up the win, giving up just one hit in three innings of work.
Corey Bertini was the offensive hero, collecting three hits, an RBI and a stolen base, Kyle Murtfeld blasted a solo home run for the Rams and Wheeler had a triple.
Harlan pounded out 19 hits in Thursday night’s doubleheader sweep in Glenwood.
Glenwood had nine hits of its own in the first game, but couldn’t keep pace with the Cyclones.
Baker and Nolan Robinson both had a pair of hits. Schultz and Talon Stromgren both drove home a run.
In the nightcap, Glenwood tallied four hits with RBIs coming from Baker and Schultz.
The Rams’ record stood at 7-8 entering Monday night’s meeting with Red Oak.
