Rams drop third straight

Glenwood dropped it’s third straight match to a Hawkeye 10 Conference opponent with 20-25, 23-25, 19-25 setback to Creston Thursday.

The Rams (14-7 overall, 4-2 in the conference) recorded 25 kills on .129 hitting but never seemed to match the Panther’s consistency at the net.

“Creston was very consistent in their attack,” said Glenwood coach Maria Jacobus. “We made more offensive errors than usual, but our serving and serve receive were strong.”

Lyndie Van Ness was particularly strong at the service line in the second set, serving 8-of-9 in a row to get the Rams back into the match.  Van Ness finished with five aces and nine kills to lead the team.
Kaycee Clark added seven kills.

“A few less mistakes and this would have  been a much different match,” Jacobus said.

Rams drops two in H-10

The Glenwood volleyball team’s four game winning streak was snapped last Tuesday with a pair of losses to state ranked Harlan and Council Bluffs St. Albert in a Hawkeye 10 Conference triangular in Council Bluffs.

The Rams dropped their opener to  Class 4A No. 4 ranked Cyclones 25-15, 25-22, 25-20 and the capper 23-25, 19-25, 23-25 to Class 2A No. 14 St. Albert.

“It was a tough night,” said Glenwood coach Maria Jacobus. “I thought we fought hard and had some great runs throughout the night, but we weren’t as quick at the net as we usually are.  We’ll keep working in practice and hopefully address those shortcomings.”

Lyndie Van Ness led the Rams with seven kills against the Cyclones. Kaycee Clark added six kills.

Against St. Albert, Kali Mumm led with 10 kills and Van Ness recorded six.
