  • All-State Music Honors

    The Glenwood Community High School Music Department was represented by 14 students auditioning for the Iowa All-State Chorus and Band on Oct. 20 at Harlan High School. Selection for membership in the All-State ensembles is the highest individual honor a high school musician can achieve. Approximately 17 percent of those that audition are selected for membership in these prestigious groups.

  • 90 Years Of Service

    In all reality, little has changed for the Glenwood Rotary Club over the past 90 years.

        Members still meet on Thursday nights for dinner and an evening of fellowship, the club has 22 members (the same number it had in 1922) and most importantly, the club is continuing its mission of giving back to the Glenwood Community.

    Judge Jeffrey Larson
        Justin T. Nuckolls, Pacific Junction – operating a motor vehicle with an expired license, pleaded guilty, ordered to pay $50 fine, court costs and fees.
        Dustin Wayne Griffin, Pacific Junction – defendant admits violation of probation, original sentence on charges of burglary and criminal mischief imposed.

        Oct. 26 – David Kowskie of Glenwood reported a theft.
        Oct. 26 – Amy Hummell of Emerson reported criminal mischief.

        Oct. 29 – A vehicle driven by Eric Parsons of Council Bluffs was southbound on 221st Street when the vehicle went off to the right and the drive over-corrected causing the vehicle to cross the center line and go off the road, strike a tree and roll over. The driver was transported to Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs.

        Oct. 14 – Glen Haven Home in Glenwood reported a theft.
        Oct. 24 – Subway in Glenwood reported a forgery.
        Oct. 27 – Kwik Shop in Glenwood reported a gas drive off.

        Oct. 30 – B.P in Glenwood reported a forgery.


  • Two On Ballot For Council Seat

    One seat will be up for grabs on the Glenwood City Council in next Tuesday’s general election.

        Steve Fornoff faces a challenge from Jeremy Wade Rodman for an at-large seat on the council. In August, Fornoff was appointed over Rodman to fill the seat vacated by Clare Bangs in a 3-1 vote of the council. That seat had become open when Bangs moved outside the city limits.
        There are no other seats up on the five-member council.

  • Early Voting Ahead Of 2008 Presidential Election

    By Monday afternoon, more than 2,400 Mills County residents had already cast their ballot for next Tuesday’s general election.

        Election officials expect that number to continue to rise as Election Day nears, greatly surpassing the 2,447 Mills County ballots that were cast early in 2008, the last presidential election year.
