    Dozens of Mills County residents took part in a series of public forums earlier this month to share their thoughts on the potential for the future of a county-wide trail system in Mills County.

  • Architect Selected For Auxiliary Gym

    The Glenwood Community School District Board of Directors has tabbed HSR Associated, Inc. to design and spec the district’s proposed $3.5 million gymnasium and locker room addition to the high school.

    At last Monday’s regularly-scheduled school board meeting, the board voted 3-2 to retain the La Crosse, Wisc. architectural, engineering and interior design firm from a group of applicants that made their pitch to be the district’s architect at a Jan. 10 special board meeting.

    Last fall, Myron Roker received a special package at his home in Glenwood. Inside the white envelope was a letter from Consulat General de France A Chicago and a medal making him a Knight of the Legion of Honor, France’s highest military distinction given to living U.S. veterans who risked their lives during World War II while fighting on French territory.

  • WEDDING - Ashley Fultz/Dylan Griffin

    Ashley Loren Fultz and Dylan Thomas Griffin of Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz., were united in marriage at the Omaha Hilton Hotel on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013. Carol Lynne officiated the ceremony. A reception followed at the hotel.

    The bride is the daughter of Danny and Janice Fultz of Glenwood. She’s on active duty in the U.S. Air Force and has studied dental assisting at Iowa Western Community College and esthetics at LaJames International.

  • Blanket Man Inspires Church Congregation

    While many Mills County residents were ringing in the new year in the comfort and warmth of their own homes, a Glenwood man was roughing it in a tent outside Grace United Methodist Church (GUMC).   

    Jeff Mitts spent New Year’s Eve camping in the tent to fulfill a promise he made to members of the church congregation for surpassing its “Blankets +” missions project fundraising goal.   

  • Puckett Gets 50-Year Sentence

    Colby Puckett was sentenced to 50 years in prison on Monday by Mills County District Court Judge Greg W. Steensland for the murder of 13-month-old Aliyanna L. May last February.

  • County-Wide Trails System

    The Mills County Trail Planning Committee, Mills County Conservation Board and the National Park Service’s Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance Program are hosting a series of listening sessions this month to solicit public input on the future of a multi-use trails system in the county.
