  • A Good Fit

    Angie Winquist officially began her duties last week as Glenwood’s city clerk.
    Winquist was hired for the position in August and will replace Judith Groves, who will remain in the office as a deputy clerk.

    “I know I have a lot to learn, but I think it’s a really good fit with my background,” Winquist said.

    Winquist is a native Iowan who has lived in Mills County since 1983. Her husband, Stan, is a longtime industrial arts faculty member at Glenwood Community High School.

  • Bridge To The Future

    There’s an upside to the unusually dry weather conditions Mills County has experienced in 2012 – significant progress is being made on the U.S. Highway 34 expansion / Missouri River bridge project in western Mills County.

    “Contractors were able to get a lot of work done with the good weather,” Iowa Department of Transportation project engineer Scott Nixon said last week while speaking to members of the Mills County Economic Development Foundation.

  • Fremont-Mills rushes for 404 yards in 54-12 district victory

        Fremont-Mills scored on it’s first three possessions while its defense held Stanton to just 28 total yards in the first quarter of a  54-12 victory on Friday in Eight-Man, District 8 football.

  • Harlan hands Glenwood fourth straight loss

        Harlan ran back three kickoff returns for touchdowns and Glenwood nearly matched them with two kickoff returns of their own, but it was the Cyclones who got the win in a 51-23 victory over the Rams on Friday in Harlan.
        The loss was the Rams’ fourth straight after a season-opening win over Red Oak.

  • Rams sweep Shenandoah in Hawk-10 volleyball

        Glenwood swept Shenandoah 25-18, 25-21, 25-10 in Hawkeye 10 Conference volleyball last Tuesday.

  • Lo-Ma runs through East Mills

        MALVERN - A big rushing night and a stingy defense proved more than enough for Logan Magnolia to stay undefeated in Class A, District 8 Friday night.
        Paul Hutson led a 444 yard rushing effort while the Logan Magnolia held East Mills to less than 200 total yards in a 48-7 victory on Homecoming Night in Malvern.

        Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson narrowly edged the Glenwood boys at the Harlan Invitational Cross Country Meet on Saturday.
