  • School Board Votes To Terminate Principal's Contract

    The Glenwood Board of Education voted unanimously late Tuesday afternoon to terminate the contract of Glenwood Community High School principal Kerry Newman.

    According to wording of a motion passed at a special meeting of the board, Newman will have five days to contest the termination. She has been on paid leave since Jan. 18.

        Feb. 4 – A vehicle driven by Damon Govig of Red Oak was southbound on Highway 275 towing a trailer when the driver said he fell asleep at the wheel and the trailer entered the east ditch and jackknifed against an embankment.

  • Newman's Status Focus Of Feb. 12 Meeting

    The employment status of Glenwood Community High School principal Kerry Newman is likely to be decided at a special meeting of the Glenwood Board of Education Tuesday, Feb. 12. The meeting will take place at 4 p.m. in the third-floor conference room at the school district’s central office, located on the campus of the Glenwood Resource Center at 103 Central.

  • Arrest Made In Baby's Death

    A 22-year-old Pacific Junction man has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of a 13-month-old baby girl.

    Mills County Attorney Eric Hansen said Colby Ray Puckett, 22, was arrested Friday and charged in the death of 13-month-old Aliyanna L. May, who died at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha on Saturday, Feb. 2.

  • Soccer Lights On Hold

        The only way Glenwood Community High School soccer teams will be able to light up their home field this spring will be to keep putting points on the scoreboard.

  • Father Found Guilty Of Murder

    A jury in Pottawattamie County has found Jason Curtis, 36, of Glenwood guilty of first-degree murder in the July 2011 death of his 5-month-old son. The verdict was announced Tuesday in Council Bluffs. Curtis will be sentenced in April.

  • Glenwood Police Reports 02/06/13

        Jan. 22 – A vehicle driven by Amy Whipp of Clarinda was pulling away from a gas pump at a station on South Locust Street when her vehicle struck a second vehicle driven by Tracie Kerns of Pacific Junction.
        Jan. 30 – A vehicle driven by Lois Pitchfork entered a gas station parking lot on Locust Street and due to the icy parking lot slid into a legally parked second vehicle.
