  • Library Concerns Discussed

    The physical condition of the Glenwood Public Library was the focus of discussion at  last week’s regular meeting of the Glenwood City Council.

        The deterioration of bricks on the building’s exterior and a leaky roof have members of the Glenwood Library Board and Glenwood City Council concerned about patron and employee safety and potential damage that could be caused as a result of a heavy snow accumulation on the roof this winter.

  • Rams score 52 after halftime in 87-39 victory

        The Glenwood boys basketball team traveled to Clarinda and went home with a 87-39 victory over Clarinda Academy on Saturday.
        The Rams (2-2 overall, 0-2 in the Hawkeye 10 Conference) led 35-26 at halftime but came out hot in the second half, out-scoring the Eagles 52-13 over the final two quarters.

  • Rams down Creston, 51-34

        The Glenwood girls basketball team got its second Hawkeye 10 Conference win of the season Friday in a 51-34 victory over Creston.
        A quick start, fueled by several steals created by the Rams’ pressure defense,  helped Glenwood jump out to a 17-5 first quarter lead.  

  • 17-0 run lifts Knights over Eagles

          The Fremont-Mills girls rode a 17-0 second quarter run and a strong defensive effort to a 50-20 victory over Heartland Christian in Corner Conference basketball on Tuesday at Iowa Western Community College.
        After a rough first quarter on both ends of the court, the Knights rattled off 17 straight points in the second quarter to turn a slim 13-7 lead into a 30-7 halftime lead.

  • Knights stay perfect in Corner

                    Dakota Thomas scored 21 points and Clayton Wilson 14 to lead the Fremont-Mills boys basketball team to a 45-39 victory over Nishnabotna on Friday.
        The Knights (3-1 overall, 3-0 in the Corner Conference) used a 16-9 second quarter run to pull away.

        Nov. 29 – Deborah Wilcoxson of Glenwood reported a theft.
        Nov. 29 – Todd Wright of Glenwood reported a burglary and theft.
        Dec. 1 – Corey Manley of Glenwood reported a vehicle fire.
        Dec. 3 – Captain Video of Glenwood reported a burglary, theft and criminal mischief.


  • Mills County Sheriff 12/12/12

        Dec. 3 - Cisco’s Towing of Malvern reported criminal mischief.
        Dec. 4 - Kathleen Shaddy of Pacific Junction  reported a theft and identity theft.
        Nov. 29 – A vehicle driven by Janis Marie Hughes of Red Oak was eastbound on Highway 34 when the driver swerved to miss a deer and left the roadway, rolling onto its top.

  • 'Remembering The Fallen'

    A traveling tribute to Iowa military personnel who have died in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars is on display this week at Glenwood Community High School.

        “Remembering Our Fallen” is dedicated to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their country since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States. GCHS is one of a long list of schools across the state that has hosted the exhibit.
