Mitch Kolf Leaving Glenwood City Administrator Position

Glenwood City Administrator Mitch Kolf.

Glenwood City Administrator/Finance Director Mitch Kolf has tendered his resignation, effective May 22.

In a letter addressed to Mayor Angie Winquist and members of the Glenwood City Council, Kolf said he's accepting a position in Kansas City that aligns more closely with his professional experience and long-term professional goals.

"This was an incredibly difficult decision," Kolf stated in his letter. "While I accepted this role with long-term intentions, I have determined that, for personal and family reasons, it is in my best interest to transition to a new opportunity.

"I am very proud of what we have accomplished together over the past 14 months, including balancing the budget early in my tenure and expanding the use of the sales tax through the recent election. It has been a privilege to work alongside the mayor, city council, department heads, city staff and members of the community."

Kolf, an Iowa native, has served as Glenwood's city administrator since January 2025, after working for Maricopa County, Ariz., for 7½ years as a budget analyst.

After accepting Kolf's resignation Tuesday night, the Glernwood City Council voted to hire an outside consulting firm for a fee of $12,400 to facilitate the recruiting and hiring process for his replacement.
