It's Homecoming Week In Glenwood!

Homecoming Week in Glenwood has arrived.

The celebration will culminate Saturday evening with the crowning of the 2025 Glenwood Community High School Homecoming King and Queen, but several activities are taking place in the community throughout the week.
Wednesday, Oct. 1

* Street Painting from 6 – 7:30 p.m. between the Glenwood Activities Complex and Glenwood Middle School for high school students (grades 9-12). The event will include games and music.
Thursday, Oct. 2

* Mills County Chamber Of Commerce Coffee (hosted by the Glenwood Booster Club) from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at Glenwood Activities Complex.
Friday, Oct. 3

* Glenwood Fire Department Pancake Feed from 6:30 – 9 a.m. at Glenwood Fire Station. Menu includes pancakes, sausages and drinks. Free-will donation.

* Glenwood Community High School Pep Rally (open to the public) beginning at 10:05 a.m. in GCHS gymnasium.

* Glenwood Booster Club Luncheon (hamburgers, hot dogs, pulled pork sandwiches) served from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Glenwood Activities Complex.

* Glenwood Homecoming Parade at 1:30 p.m. The theme of this year’s parade is “RAM-paging Through The Decades.” The parade will begin on northwest corner of Town Square and proceed east on First Street, south on Vine Street, west on Sharp

Street, south on Walnut Street and east on Coolidge Street.

Parking near Town Square will be limited, but the Southwest Iowa Transit Agency (SWITA) and the Glenwood Homecoming Parade Committee are providing free shuttle bus transportation to and from the parade. Shuttle bus transportation will begin at 12 p.m. (Noon) from two locations – the Glenwood Middle School and Russ’s Market. The Middle School shuttle will take riders to and from a drop-off / pick-up location at First and Chestnut Street. The Russ’s Market shuttle will take riders to and from Iron Fitness at the intersection of Walnut and Coolidge.
Shuttle buses will run from 12 – 1:15 p.m. before the parade and will resume immediately following the parade until 3:30 p.m.
Handicap parking will be available on a first-come basis in the Glenwood State Bank parking lot.

* Glenwood Outcast Gathering immediately after the parade at Glenwood American Legion Hall.

* Jim Hughes Real Estate Post-parade Party until 5 p.m. Family event featuring free food and children’s activities.

* Glenwood Wrestling Club Tailgate from 4 to 6:45 p.m. at Glenwood Wrestling Building on Tyson Street.

* Glenwood Homecoming Football Game vs. Denison, 7 p.m., at Glenwood Activities Complex. Post-game fireworks show.
Saturday, Oct. 4

* Homecoming Golf Scramble at Glenwood Golf Course with 9 a.m. shotgun start.

* Alumni Classes Breakfast from 9 – 11:30 a.m. at Glenwood Historical Museum “Zeum” building. Cost is $25 per person.

* Glenwood Community High School Homecoming Coronation – 7 p.m. in GCHS gymnasium. Open to the public – admission is $5.

* Glenwood Community High School Homecoming Dance from 8 – 10:30 p.m. at GCHS. Admission is $10.

* Seventh Annual Homecoming Street Dance on First Street. Gates open at 7 p.m. with music starting at 8 p.m. Admission is $5.

* Glenwood Fire Department Pancake Feed from 10 p.m. – 3 a.m. at Glenwood Fire Station. Menu includes pancakes, biscuits and gravy, sausage and beverages. Free-will donation.
In addition to these activities, Glenwood Community High School class reunions will be taking place throughout the weekend at various locations.
