Homecoming Parade Theme Celebrates 50 States, 250 Years

The 2026 Glenwood Homecoming Parade will be Friday, Oct. 16.
Glenwood’s Homecoming Parade will have a red, white and blue theme in 2026.
The Glenwood Homecoming Parade Committee has chosen “50 States * 250 Years” as the theme for the parade, scheduled to take place Friday, Oct.16, on Town Square.
The theme coincides with America’s 25Oth birthday celebration in 2026.
Parade entrants are encouraged to take a “postcard approach” in building their float by selecting a specific state and highlighting its unique contributions to American culture and progress while bringing the state’s “most iconic features to life.” The float might celebrate the state’s local attractions, famous events, famous people or cultural groups.
“Think beyond the flag – show us the heart of the state you choose,” parade organizers stated in their announcement of the theme.
Parade organizers stressed the entries should be fun and school appropriate.
“Celebrate the people of our 50 states by focusing on their real-life stories and contributions, ensuring all representations remain dignified and culturally sensitive,” the announcement stated. “All designs should celebrate the spirit of our country, our homecoming and reflect positive, respectful creativity (the Ram Way!)”
Parade participants are encouraged to utilize costumes, props and music that match their theme “to add energy and excitement.”
Parade registration will begin in early August.
Additional information about the parade will be shared in the coming weeks and months on the Glenwood Homecoming Parade Facebook page. The committee is currently seeking nominations for the parade grand marshal.
