Homan scores two goals in win

OMAHA - Glenwood out-shot Harlan 15-4 and Sarah Homan scored a pair of goals as the Rams knocked off Harlan 3-2 in Hawkeye 10 Conference girls soccer in a match played Friday at Morrison Stadium on the campus of Creighton University.

Homan got the first of her two goals in the 10th minute to give the Rams a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

Just three minutes into the second half, Harlan took advantage of a Ram defensive breakdown and Cyclone stryker Ana Petersen was able to knot the score on a breakaway just past the dive of Ram goalkeeper Kristen Nakamoto.

Glenwood responded in the 64th minute.

Homan dribbled past three defenders to get off a low shot from the 18 yard box that appeared to be snagged by the Cyclone keeper, but she bobbled the ball and it dribbled into the goal for a 2-1 Ram lead.
Just over five minutes later, Sydney Stivers stole a ball at the top of the box and looped in a goal just over goalie’s hands into the upper right corner of the goal.

Peterson added a goal for the Cyclones late for the final score.

“We seemed to feel a lot more comfortable with running our formation,” said Glenwood coach Amy Benson. “We seemed to feel really comfortable after our two goal lead and seemed to let up a little bit allowing Harlan to get their second goal.  We fought back though holding them off from scoring again to get the win.”
Stivers finished with a goal and two assists in the win.
