MUSCATINE - McKenzie Evans' goal in the fifth and final shot of a shootout lifted the Glenwood girls soccer team a to 1-1 (5-4) victory in the Class 2A quarterfinals at the Iowa State Girls Soccer Tournament on Thursday.

The Rams will face North Scott in today's semifinals at 4:45 p.m. North Scott (11-9) handed Glenwood its lone loss, by a shootout, in May.
In Thursday's quarterfinals, Union came out as the aggressors, winning nearly every scramble and holding a decided advantage in possessions and shots in the first half. Union had 10 shots on goal to the Rams' one in the first 40 minutes.
But the score was knotted at 0-0 at intermission.
Glenwood needed just 1:04 of the second half to change that.
The Rams' Emily Wickham collected the ball 35 yards from the goal, beat one defender and raced towards the goal with a step on a second Union defender. Her strike looped over the Union keeper's out-stretched hands for the game's first goal.
The score would remain 1-0 for the next 38 minutes.
With the Rams looking like they had a first round win wrapped up, Union used a throw-in from the right side to penetrate the Glenwood defense where Dayton Powell scooted a ball just passed the dive of Ram goalkeeper Sierra Edwards to tie the score with just :39.5 remaining in the game.
After two 10-minute "sudden victory" periods, the teams were still deadlocked leading to the shootout.
Each team's first four shots found the back of the net before Edwards deflected Union's fifth shot from Powell leading to Evans' game-winner.
