An appreciation ceremony for local law enforcement officers is planned for Monday, May 15, at 4:30 p.m., outside the Mills County Courthouse in Glenwood.

The event, being held in conjunction with National Police / Law Enforcement Week,  is open to the public and will include addresses from Glenwood Mayor Brian Tackett and Mills County Attorney Naeda Elliott. Glenwood Police Chief Eric Johansen, Mills County Sheriff Eugene Goos and other Mills  County law enforcement officers will be in attendance.
Following the program, luminaries will be lit along steps to the sidewalk south of the courthouse.

Glenwood and Mills County residents are encouraged to show their support for the local law enforcement community throughout the week by displaying blue ribbons, wreaths and lights around their homes and businesses. The Farm Bureau Financial Services office in Glenwood has a limited supply of blue light bulbs it’s giving away this week to area residents.

Monday, May 15, has also been declared a “Wear Blue” day in the community and local schools. Area churches will be offering special prayers and services for the law enforcement community this weekend.
