Knights split pair at Red Oak

The Fremont-Mills baseball pounded out a combined 17 hits in 12-1 win over South Page and a 19-4 loss to the host Tigers at the Red Oak Invitational Tournament on Saturday.

In game one, the Knights (3-2) clubbed 11 hits off the Rebels’ pitcher. Austin Hansen, Zach Desourmeaux, Joey Greiner and Joey Carlson each had two hits apiece. Hansen drove in three runs and Carlson two.

Hansen earned the win on the hill pitching a complete game while striking out 13 and scattering four hits.

In game two, the Knights’ hurlers were roughed up for 13 hits and 16 earned runs. Joey Greiner took the loss for the Knights after allowing nine earned runs and four hits in 1/3 of an inning.

Dylan Miller went 2-for-2 at the plate with three RBIs.

Fremont-Mills 5,

Villisca 4

Dylan Miller drove in two runs and Brandon Herrick pitched an inning and 1/3 of shutout relief for the Fremont-Mills baseball team in a 5-4 win over Villisca on Friday.

Miller had two hits on the night.

Herrick struck out one and allowed just one hit to improve to 2-0 on the hill this season.

Clarinda Academy 6

Brandon Herrick fanned nine and scattered five hits in five innings of work for the Fremont-Mills baseball team in a 8-6 win over Clarinda Academy on Thursday.

Thomas Ware was 3-for-4 at the plate with four runs scored and four stolen bases to lead a seven-hit Knight attack. Brandon Herrick, Austin Hansen and Joey Carlson each added a hit.

C.B. Thomas Jefferson 12,

Fremont-Mills 0

The Fremont-Mills baseball team could muster just two hits in a season-opening 12-0 loss at Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson last Tuesday.

Dylan Miller’s single and Joey Greiner’s triple were the Knights’ only hits.

Austin Hansen took the loss on the hill after surrendering five earned runs and four hits in an inning and 2/3’s.
