Accident Claims Life Of Longtime Glenwood Resource Center Greenhouse Manager Kevin Lingren

A celebration of life for Kevin Lingren, manager and caretaker of the Glenwood Resource Center greenhouse for over 40 years, is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 23, at the GRC Visitor’s Center at 2:30 p.m. A celebration of life is also planned for Sunday, Aug. 26, from 2 – 5 p.m., at the Albion Country Club in Albion, Neb.


Lingren, 62, died in a motor vehicle accident Aug. 13, near Papillion, Neb.


According to a report from the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office, Lingren was driving a Chevrolet Cavalier on westbound Platteview Road around 4:30 p.m. and  attempted to turn left onto southbound 84th Street. His vehicle was struck by a northbound Chevrolet Traverse. A third vehicle, a Chevrolet Cruze was traveling southbound on 84th Street and was also struck due to the impact of the initial accident. The drivers of the Traverse and Cruze were not injured.


Lingren was a native of Osmond, Neb., and a graduate of Albion High School and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he received a bachelor of science degree in horticulture. He spent his entire career running the GRC greenhouse and was well-known and liked in the Glenwood community. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing tennis and traveling.
