Grease Is The Word At Omaha Community Playhouse

The Omaha Community Playhouse’s upcoming production of the electrifying rock ‘n’ roll classic Grease, opens Friday, Sept. 12 and runs through Oct. 12 in the Hawks Mainstage Theatre.

The beloved musical, which inspired the iconic movie, has been captivating audiences worldwide since its debut on Broadway in 1972.

Set in the 1950s at Rydell High, Grease, with the Book, Music and Lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, tells the timeless story of teenage love, peer pressure and the vibrant youth culture of the era.

A timeless tale of love, friendship, and self-acceptance, Grease features all the songs audiences know and love, including “Summer Nights”, “Greased Lightnin’”, “You’re the One That I Want”, and more.

Directed by Vincent Orduña with choreography by Roxanne Nielsen and music direction by Jim Boggess, Grease features a talented cast and live orchestra, bringing the iconic soundtrack to life.

With slicked back hair, poodle skirts, and all the nostalgia of the golden age of rock ‘n’ roll, Grease promises a high energy, feel-good experience for audiences of all ages.

This is the first time Grease has been staged by the Omaha Community Playhouse, and the first production for Orduña in his role as artistic director of the theatre.
