    A pair of goals by Michaela Moore and Mallory Hoyt in the closing minutes of the first half seized the momentum for Glenwood and two more goals after halftime sealed the win and the Rams' first ever Hawkeye 10 Conference championship in a 4-0 win over Kuemper Catholic last Tuesday.

    Glenwood coach Brad Selvey said his team started slowly before coming into their own over the final 50 minutes or so, he said.

    The Monarchs assured themselves of at least a share of the conference crown with the win and eliminated the Rams, the defending conference champions, from title contention.

    After a scoreless first half, Glenwood got a pair of goals from Nathan Knight and Brian Lilly to take a a 2-1 lead midway through the second half. But with just under four minutes to go, the Monarchs tied it at 2-2 to send the game into overtime.

    “We had several good chances. We just didn't get it done,” said Glenwood coach Mike Artist after the game.

    Molly Bryan struck out 14 and scattered two hits for the Glenwood softball team in a 8-1 win over Griswold on Thursday.

    Bryan, a freshman, improved to 3-0 on the season with the win. She has not allowed an earned run in three starts this season and has struck out 32.
