        Two weeks to the day after a wild, 80-49 shootout victory over East Mills in the regular-season finale, Fremont-Mills will face the Wolverines once more on Friday in the Eight-man state playoff quarterfinals.

        FORT DODGE - Mark Abrams became the second consecutive  runner to stand on the medal stand while the Rams placed 11th as a team at the  Class 3A Iowa State Cross Country Meet in Fort Dodge Saturday.

  • Glenwood football season draws...

        The Glenwood football season came to end on Friday with a 49-6 loss at Carroll.

        The 7-2 Tigers out-yarded the Rams (1-8) 376 to 147 and forced five turnovers in the lopsided win.
        Glenwood coach Brian Albert said his team’s inability to sustain drives - the Rams punted on their first four drives and trailed 21-0 early - and untimely giveaways were the difference.

        ATLANTIC - For the second straight season the Glenwood boys have qualified as a team and will send three individual runners to the state cross country meet this Saturday.

        MALVERN - Fremont-Mills football coach Jeremy Christiansen knew he would need a big game from Nate Meier in his team’s match up with fellow undefeated and state ranked East Mills on Friday.

  • Wolverines not caught looking...

        ESSEX - There was no looking ahead for these Wolverines.
        A week ahead of a showdown with unbeaten No. 2 ranked Fremont-Mills looming on Friday, the No. 4 ranked East Mills football team took no chances to overlook Essex on Friday night with a 68-14 victory.
        The Wolverines (8-0 overall, 6-0 in District 8) racked up a season-high 568 yards in the win over the Trojans.

  • Saintes rally over Rams in four...

        Council Bluffs St. Albert defeated Glenwood 21-25, 25-23, 27-25, 25-21 in a non-conference volleyball match on Thursday.
        The Rams (11-16 overall, 2-7 in the Hawkeye 10 Conference) were led in kills once again by Morgan Lucy with 14. She also added two blocks.
        Grace Newman had 12 kills and 28 digs along with two aces.
        Kenna Henze had 27 assists on the night.

  • Quick Creston start dooms Rams...

        Creston blocked a punt and scored a 47 yard touchdown pass to go up 13-0 before Glenwood had even run a handful of plays in a 47-6 Panther win in Class 3A, District 1 football on Friday.
        “They are the top team in the district but I didn’t think we played as good as we could,” said Glenwood coach Brian Albert. “We didn’t get it turned on quick enough and things snowballed on us.”

  • Ram harriers win fourth straight...

        CARROLL – Mark Abrams won the individual title and Glenwood wrapped up its fourth straight team title at the Hawkeye 10 Cross Country Meet in Carroll on Thursday.
        The Rams cruised to their fourth straight team title at the meet, placing in four of the top six spots. Glenwood becomes the first conference school to win four straight cross country titles.
        Glenwood held a 32 to 62 point edge over second place Shenandoah in the team scoring.

        The schedule reads Week 9: Fremont-Mills at East Mills.
        It doesn’t say both teams are undefeated and ranked in the top five in the state among Eight-Man teams.
        There’s no mention of each team averaging better than 60 points per game and more than 350 yards in quick strike offenses that rarely allowed either team’s starters to play into the second half of numerous blow outs.
