  • Knights nip Wolverines 3-2 in...

    TABOR - Fremont-Mills built a 3-0 lead after two innings and held on for a 3-2 win over East Mills in a Corner Conference baseball clash in Tabor Friday.

    The Knights (4-1) got a strong pitching performance from Jacob Jenkerson in the win. The sophomore gave up just two runs and four hits – none for extra-bases – and struck out five in 5 2/3 innings of work before giving way to closer Dylan Chambers for the final 1 1/3 innings.

    The Wolverines plated two runs in the top of the fourth but could not get any closer over the final three innings.

  • Wolverines drop pair at Riverside

    East Mills fell in a pair of games at the Riverside Softball Tournament Saturday.
    The Wolverines (3-8) dropped its opener to Shenandoah 16-4 in six innings and then fell to the host Bulldogs 13-2 in four innings.

    Janette Schraft started in the circle and took the loss to the Mustangs after allowing seven hits and seven earned runs. Kassidy Croghan took the loss in game two.

    Emmy Duysen, Megan Hossle and Cheyenne Roberson each had two hits on the day to lead the Wolverines at the plate.

  • Wolverines drop two at Treynor...

    East Mills dropped a pair of five inning games to Missouri Valley and Treynor at the Treynor Baseball Tournament Saturday.

    Missouri Valley roughed up the Wolverines for 11 hits in a 15-3 game one victory. The host Cardinals won 14-2.

  • SB-Luton, Mogensen too much for...

    Sergeant Bluff-Luton’s Tyler Mogensen allowed just three hits and one earned run in a 13-1 non-conference baseball victory over Glenwood Friday.

    Mogensen gave up just three singles and walked one while striking out three and facing just four over the minimum in the five inning victory.

    “Offensively, we had no answer to Sergeant Bluff’s pitching,” Glenwood coach Kurt Schultz said.

  • Glenwood trio earns valuable...

    IOWA CITY - Glenwood’s Ellie Osterloh, Brooklyn Taylor and Erin Stanley competed in last weekend’s Iowa State Girls Singles and Doubles Tennis Tournament at the Hawkeye Tennis Recreation Complex in Iowa City.

    Osterloh, the Rams’ singles qualifier, and the doubles pair of Taylor and Stanley both dropped their two matches at state.

    “I knew going in the competition would be tough,” said Glenwood coach Callie Ohm. “The girls played their best but fell in straight games.”

  • Glenwood softball 2-1 at...

    Glenwood bounced back from a tough 5-3 loss in its opening game to post back-to-back wins and finish with a 2-1 record at the Atlantic Softball Invitational Saturday.

    The Rams (7-2) dropped a 5-3 game to ACGC on a walk-off, three run blast by Emily Pavelka. Glenwood came back to smack 20 hits in a 8-4 win over Carroll and a 13-1, four inning win over Exira-EHK.

    Bailey Rumery went the distance, striking out seven and scattering eight hits against ACGC but took the loss on one pitch that just got away from her.

  • Glenwood baseball blanks Thomas...

    Cole Loeffelbein homered and Colton Schutte pitched six hitless innings for Glenwood in a 9-0 shutout of Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson Friday.

    The Rams (2-1) smacked 10 hits off Yellowjackets pitchers and built on a 3-0 lead after two innings with a big five run rally in the fifth to put the game out of reach.

    Loeffelbein’s lone hit was his first home run of the season and drove in two runs. Cade Van Ness, Andrew Holiday and Dax Lappala each recorded two hits.

  • Glenwood off to high-scoring 3-0...

    The Glenwood softball team smacked 27 hits and scored 35 runs in a Hawkeye 10 Conference double header sweep of Council Bluffs St. Albert Thursday in Council Bluffs.

    The Rams got up 14-0 on the Saintes in the opener and went on to win 19-5. In game two, Glenwood plated 13 runs in the third inning to end the contest by mercy rule with the score 16-0.

  • Glenwood boys fall to Dallas...

    Dallas Center-Grimes turned a tight 1-0 match into a 2-0 lead just seconds before halftime and Glenwood never recovered in a 6-0 loss in the Class 2A, Substate 8 opening round last Monday.

    The Rams could have matched the Hawkeyes. The game was called with 9:52 left in second half due to lightning.

    A pair of second half goals lifted Sergeant Bluff-Luton to a 3-1 victory over Glenwood in the Class 2A regional girls soccer opening round Thursday in Glenwood.
