  • Rams win OT thriller

        Momentum is fickle.
        Just ask Denison.
        One minute the Monarchs are up five points and in control of their Hawkeye 10 Conference basketball game at Glenwood last Tuesday.
        Less than 20 seconds and a Grant May 19-footer later, the game is tied and headed into overtime where Glenwood scores the first eight points of the extra frame to snatch a victory from the jaws of defeat in a 66-59 win before a reporter-estimated crowd of 400.

  • Five Wolverines in double-...

        East Mills had five players score in double-figures in a 86-43 rout of Heartland Christian in Corner Conference boys basketball on Friday.
        Keegan Wederquist led East Mills (4-2 overall, 4-1 in the conference) with 18 points while Colden Hillyer added 13, Joseph VanSant 14, Jacob Schafer 11 and Logan Currin 10.
        The Wolverines shot a blistering 57.3 percent from the field (36-of-61) and recorded 26 steals on defense.

  • Heartland Christian downs East...

        Both Molly Cunard and sister Steffi Cunard combined to score 49 of Heartland Christian’s 54 points in a 54-46 victory over the East Mills girls on Friday.

  • Kuemper edges Glenwood, 56-54

        Glenwood couldn’t hold on to a five point lead with four minutes remaining in the game as Kuemper Catholic rallied for a 56-54 Hawkeye 10 Conference boys basketball victory over the Rams on Friday.
        “This was a good quality high school basketball game between two good teams. We just came up two points short,” said Glenwood coach Curt Schulte.

         Kuemper Catholic jumped out to a 10-1 lead and led by as many as 21 in a 55-36 Hawkeye 10 Conference girls basketball victory over Glenwood on Friday.

  • Rams second at Rollin Dyer invite

        The Glenwood wrestling team had four champions and three other wrestlers reach the finals at the Rollin Dyer Invitational on Saturday in Atlantic.
        Johnston edged Glenwood 229.5 to 228 in the final team standings. The host Trojans were a distant third with 189.5 points.

  • Rams score 52 after halftime in...

        The Glenwood boys basketball team traveled to Clarinda and went home with a 87-39 victory over Clarinda Academy on Saturday.
        The Rams (2-2 overall, 0-2 in the Hawkeye 10 Conference) led 35-26 at halftime but came out hot in the second half, out-scoring the Eagles 52-13 over the final two quarters.

  • Rams down Creston, 51-34

        The Glenwood girls basketball team got its second Hawkeye 10 Conference win of the season Friday in a 51-34 victory over Creston.
        A quick start, fueled by several steals created by the Rams’ pressure defense,  helped Glenwood jump out to a 17-5 first quarter lead.  

  • 17-0 run lifts Knights over...

          The Fremont-Mills girls rode a 17-0 second quarter run and a strong defensive effort to a 50-20 victory over Heartland Christian in Corner Conference basketball on Tuesday at Iowa Western Community College.
        After a rough first quarter on both ends of the court, the Knights rattled off 17 straight points in the second quarter to turn a slim 13-7 lead into a 30-7 halftime lead.

  • Knights stay perfect in Corner


                    Dakota Thomas scored 21 points and Clayton Wilson 14 to lead the Fremont-Mills boys basketball team to a 45-39 victory over Nishnabotna on Friday.
        The Knights (3-1 overall, 3-0 in the Corner Conference) used a 16-9 second quarter run to pull away.
