  • Blue Devils edge Wolverines, 3-1

        The Nishnabotna baseball team knocked off East Mills 3-1 in the regular-season final for both teams last Wednesday.
        The Wolverines (6-9) struggled against Blue Devil starter Kaleb Kahue. The senior right-hander allowed one hit and no earned runs while striking out 14.
        Luke Schafer had the lone hit for East Mills.
        Charlie Ruff recorded the loss but did not allow an earned run.
        Andrew Thompson had two hits and drove in a run for Nishnabotna.

  • Glenwood baseball gets past...

        Josh Keim and Taylor Kaufman both homered for the Glenwood baseball team in a 12-3, five inning victory over Wahoo, Neb. at the Omaha South Tournament on Sunday.
        Keim finished with two hits and two RBIs.
        Tyler Jensen added two hits and an RBI.
        Grant Stivers earned the win pitching a complete-game and allowing five hits and three earned runs while striking out five.

        TABOR - The Fremont-Mills softball team advanced to the Class 1A Region 8 semifinals with a 2-1 victory over Underwood on Friday.

  • Rams advance to district semis

        Molly Bryan allowed one hit through six innings and smacked a two-run homer to help Glenwood to a 6-1 Class 3A, Region 8 quarterfinal win over Atlantic on Saturday.

  • Ram softball splits with Monarchs

        After coming out “flat” in a 7-0 game-one loss to Denison, the Glenwood softball team re-grouped and bounced back for a 4-3 win in the second game to split a Hawkeye 10 Conference double-header on Thursday.

  • Knights drop Wolverines on...

        The Fremont-Mills baseball team got 11 hits at the plate and 6 1/3 innings of strong pitching from Clayton Wilson on the mound in a 9-2 Corner Conference victory over East Mills on Friday.
        With the win, the Knights (12-4, 11-3 in the conference) complete the season sweep of East Mills.
        Wilson was dominant at times on the hill, scattering three hits and alowing no earned runs, while fanning seven over 6 1/3 innings of work to run his record to 3-2 on the season. Wilson also helped his own cause with two hits.

  • Rams sweep Denison in Hawk-10...

        The Glenwood baseball team relied on its clutch hitting and some opportunistic offense in a Hawkeye 10 Conference sweep of Denison on Thursday.

        The Rams (23-4, 14-0 in the conference) took a 4-0 lead after an inning but found themselves down 5-4 in the fifth inning of game one before rallying for a 14-7 win.
        The Rams’ bats came alive in the fifth when clean-up man, Taylor Kaufman smacked a two-out single. After Nathaniel Bledsoe drew a walk, Matt Schulz doubled both home to put the Rams up 6-5.

  • Fremont-Mills softball shuts out...

        Kendall Fichter and Madison Powers each drove in two runs and Mindy Lorimor allowed just one hit in the circle for Fremont-Mills in a 10-0, five inning victory of East Mills on Friday.
        Fichter and Lorimor led the Knights (21-7 overall, 12-0 in the Corner Conference) with two hits each and Melissa Kesterson tripled and drove in a run.
        Lorimor faced just one of the minimum and struck out 12.

  • A.L edges Fremont-Mills, 3-0

        The Fremont-Mills softball team couldn’t solve Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln starter Lauren Hahnsen in a 3-0 loss on Friday.
        Hahnsen allowed just four hits and struck out seven.
        Lynde Madison, Melissa Kesterson, Kendall Fichter and Sydney Esary each recorded hits for the Knights.
        Mindy Lorimor (16-4) took the loss in the circle after giving up seven hits, one earned run and fanning seven.

  • Wolverines down Villisca on...

        Charlie Ruff came on in relief of starter Jagger Bohrer to 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief for the     East Mills baseball team in a 6-4 win over  Villisca on Friday.
        Ruff (3-1) fanned five, walked one and allowed just one hit in the win.
        The Wolverines (6-4 overall) were led at the plate by Morgan Dalton and Austin Sommer with two hits each. Dalton also drove in two runs.
