  • Huskies run game too much for...

        The Glenwood football team struggled to slow a physical Winterset offense in a 40-7 loss Class 3A, District 1 loss on Friday.

        Winterset ran the ball on 62 of its 73 plays from scrimmage. Their three-back, power running offense ground out 354 yards on the ground, mostly running right at the Rams.

  • Knights pass Sidney test

        TABOR - A slow start and some untimely penalties couldn’t dampen a Fremont-Mills offense that exploded for 30 second-quarter points in a 56-11 rout of Sidney on Friday in Eight-Man, District 8 football.

        The Knights (7-0 overall, 5-0 in the district) started slowly against the 4-3 Cowboys, having two touchdowns nullified by penalties in the first 15 minutes and leading just 16-3 with just under 10 minutes to go in the first half before finding their rhythm.

  • Schafer’s big night dooms...

        Luke Schafer threw five touchdown passes and ran for three more for the East Mills football team in a 54-7 victory over Villisca in Eight-Man, District 8 action on Friday.
        The Wolverines (4-2 overall, 3-1 in the district) led 52-0 at the half before the starters gave way to reserves the final two quarters.
        East Mills totaled 366 yards of total offense, 182 of it coming on the ground and the other 184 coming through the air, while holding the Bluejays to 46 total yards.

  • Wolverines get first win, fall...

        The East Mills volleyball team lost its home finale 25-21, 16-25, 25-15, 25-14 to Sidney on Thursday.  
        “We dug ourselves a hole early in game one and fought back to close the gap,” said East Mills coach Connie Blank.  “Game two we played really well for the win.  However in games three and four our serve receive struggled and we just didn’t put it together.”

  • Fuller, Cooper lead Rams at...

        SHENANDOAH - Glenwood’s Johnny Fuller was first on the boys side and Carlie Cooper placed fourth for the girls at the Shenandoah Cross Country Invitational on Thursday.

  • Trojans top Rams in Hawkeye 10...

        Atlantic defeated Glenwood 18-25, 23-25, 25-23, 25-16, 15-11 in Hawkeye 10 Conference volleyball last Tuesday. 
        The Rams fall to 9-8 on the season and 2-3 in the conference.
        “It was a tough match to lose for us tonight being up two games, but credit goes to Atlantic for fighting their way back into the match and winning in five,” said Glenwood coach Kara Huisman.

        If you were to look up the words “signature win” in the dictionary, you might just find a definition befitting the Fremont-Mills’ football team’s rugged 34-16 victory over Stanton staring back at you.

  • Rams tame Tigers on homecoming

        Through five games this season the Glenwood football team had scored 29 points.

        Through two quarters of play against Red Oak on Friday, the Rams’ nearly matched that point total sprinting out to a 24-0 halftime lead en route to a 31-22 victory before a reporter-estimated crowd of 2,500 on Homecoming Night in Glenwood.

        The Fremont-Mills football team bolted out to a 48-0 first quarter lead en route to a 69-14 victory over Villisca on Homecoming night in Tabor on Friday.

  • Stivers’ career day not enough...

        Grant Stivers’ 339-yard passing night in his first career start wasn’t enough for Glenwood in a 26-13 loss to Atlantic on Friday.
