        It’s hard to imagine a better result for the Glenwood boys cross country team at the Hawkeye 10 Conference Cross Country Meet on Thursday at Harlan Country Club. The Rams cruised to their third straight team title at the meet placing in four of the top five spots.
        “That was pretty great,” said an understated Glenwood coach Todd Peverill after his Class 3A,  No. 2 ranked team grabbed four of the top five individual spots at the meet.

        After falling behind 13-0 in the first quarter, Glenwood found itself playing catch-up all night in Friday’s Class 3A District 1 matchup with visiting Creston. The end result was a disappointing 42-27 setback for the Rams.

        The East Mills football team totaled 505 yards in a 66-6 victory over Essex in Eight-Man, District 8 action on Friday.
        The Wolverines (6-2 overall, 5-1 in the district) used their balanced offense - they finished with 238 yards rushing and 277 passing - to build a 54-0 halftime lead. No varsity players took a snap in the second half.

        In its last Corner Conference match of the season, the East Mills volleyball team swept South Page 25-9, 25-12, 25-15 on Thursday.
        “We served 92 percent for the night, racked up 19 aces, and our hitting was positive,” said East Mills coach Connie Blank. “It was great to finish the regular season with a win which will give us a boost as we begin regional tournament play next week.”
        Amanda Bazer recorded six kills and served 14-for-15 with nine aces.

        The Glenwood volleyball team dropped a five-game decision to Council Bluffs St. Albert 17-25, 24-26, 25-21, 25-23, 6-15 on Thursday.
        “Games two, three and four were played at a very high level and a great tempo for us,” said Glenwood coach Kara Huisman. “It was one of our best defensive matches of the year. We just didn’t do what we needed to do offensively in game 5.  This is a tough loss but we got better tonight."

        The Fremont-Mills volleyball team swept East Mills 25-4, 25-10, 25-19 in the opening round of the Corner Conference volleyball tournament last Monday.
        The second seeded Knights (21-3) used its aggressive attack (31 kills) and took advantage of some Wolverine (1-19) errors in the win.
