  • Ram softball drops two at...

        The Glenwood softball team limped out of the Treynor Classic Tournament with a pair of losses on Saturday.
        The Rams (17-5) fell to the host Cardinals 2-1 in game one and lost 4-3 in extra-innings to Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln in the tournament capper.

  • Switzer’s home run lifts Knights...

        Austin Switzer smacked his first home run of the season and drove in two runs for the Fremont-Mills baseball team in a 10-3 win over Sidney on Thursday.
        Austin Hansen had two hits and two RBIs and Clayton Wilson had two hits and three RBIs.

        Derrian Bredberg recorded the win on the mound allowing two hits and three earned runs over three innings.

  • Wolverines notch win over Essex/...

        Luke Schafer came up a home run short of hitting for the cycle and starting pitcher Jagger Bohrer struck out six for the East Mills baseball team in a 11-2 win over Essex/South Page on Thursday.
        The Wolverines pounded out 11 hits in the win, led by Schafer’s 3-for-4 day. Colby Jennings,     Charlie Ruff and Dalton Morgan added two hits apiece.
        Bohrer threw all five innings, struck out six, allowed six hits and one earned run to notch the win.

  • Lorimor fans 14 in Knights win

        Mindy Lorimor fanned 14 and allowed just two hits for the Fremont-Mills softball team in a 3-0 win over Sidney  on Thursday.
        The Knights (8-4) were led at the plate by Kendal Fichter’s two hits.

        The Fremont-Mills softball team recorded 14 hits in a 11-1 victory over Stanton last Tuesday.
        Mindy Lorimor had three hits and Kendall Fichter, Emily Smith, Sydney Esary and Taryn Williams each had two hits.

  • Ram softball wins St. Albert...

        The Glenwood softball team bounced back from a pair of losses to outscore the competition 24-0 in winning the Council Bluffs St. Albert Invitational Tournament on Saturday.

        The Rams knocked off the host Saintes 17-0 in a four inning opening round win and came back to defeat West Central Valley 7-0 in the title game.
        In game one, St. Albert pitcher Lauren Archer walked 22 and hit six more Glenwood batters. The Rams scored 17 runs but remarkably had just one hit on the day, a single by Maddie VanScoy.

  • Bertini, Stivers strong in pair...

        Freshman Corey Bertini earned his first varsity win on the mound in a 19-7 Glenwood win over Clarinda last Tuesday.

  • Dyer won’t return as Rams’...

        Matt Dyer, who resigned his fifth grade teaching position at West Elementary School in April to accept an appointment to the Council Bluffs Police Department, will not be returning as Glenwood’s varsity wrestling coach.
        Dyer, a 1994 Glenwood graduate, took over the Rams program from his father and longtime head coach Bob Dyer in 2006 after serving three years as an assistant coach. In five seasons as head coach Dyer’s team compiled a dual record of 56-33.

  • Rams reach state semifinals

        MUSCATINE - A historic season that included a return trip to the state tournament and a first ever victory at state came to an end  for the Glenwood girls soccer team on Friday as top ranked and defending champion Cedar Rapids Xavier defeated the Rams 4-0 in the Class 2A semifinals of the Iowa State Girls Soccer Tournament at the Muscatine Soccer Complex.

  • East Mills softball falls in...

        The East Mills girls 20 hits was not enough as the Wolverines fell 21-14 to Stanton in a Corner Conference softball showdown last Tuesday.
        The 2 hour, 23 minute game featured 33 hits and a dozen errors between the two teams.

  • Wolverines maul Vikings in 14-0...

        Five different players recorded at least two hits for the East Mills baseball team in a 14-0 five-inning victory over Villisca on Friday.
        The Wolverines (2-1) had 15 hits in the win. Luke Schafer, Daniel Duysen and Charlie Ruff each had three hits and Colby Jennings and David Howell two hits each. Jennings also drove  in two runs and Ruff added two RBIs.
        Ruff earned the win on the hill, allowing one hit and striking out four in five innings of work.
