  • East Mills shut outs Hamburg,...

    The East Mills football team sealed up the No. 2 seed in Eight man, District 8 with a 58-0 victory at Hamburg on Friday.

    But more importantly than that, said East Mills coach Andy Irwin, whose team had locked up its playoff status a week earlier, was the return of senior quarterback Jake Bolton. Bolton was limited to punting only in the previous three games while he nursed a right (throwing) shoulder injury. Bolton returned under center on Friday, played most of the first half, and completed 7-of-11 passes for 111 yards and three touchdowns.

  • Creston ousts Glenwood in...

    Creston ended the Glenwood girls volleyball team’s season on Monday in the first round of Class 3A Regionals 24-17, 15-25, 19-25, 19-25.

    In the first game the Rams seemed to be picking up right where they left off in a three-game sweep of the Panthers on Oct. 8 when they won the first one 25-17.

    Glenwood coach Kara Huisman thought her team moved the ball well and hit it well in the first game but had troubled sustaining that over the next three games.

  • F-M first at Corner Conference...

    The Fremont-Mills boys track team entered last Tuesday's Corner Conference Track Meet as the defending champions.

    And the Knights left that way for the second straight year after winning nine events and placing second or third in five more. Fremont-Mills ran away from the competition with 136 teams points, 28 points better than runner-up Clarinda Academy.

  • Rams win 13 golds, Tiger Relays...

    The Glenwood boys track team earned 13 gold medals and four silvers to win the team title at the Red Oak Tiger Relays on Thursday.

    The Rams racked up a season-high 216 team points to easily out distanced second place Clarinda (66) and third place Red Oak (53).

    Ian Eflin took home four gold medals on the day winning individual golds in the high jump, 110-meters hurdles and 400-meter hurdles and running a leg of the Rams' shuttle hurdle relay.

  • Rams third at Dodge Park

    The Glenwood girls golf team placed third at the Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln Tournament at Dodge Park Golf Course last Wednesday.

    Konigsmark was extremely pleased with her team's performance.

    “This is the best team score we have had all year,” she said. “The girls are being competitive and have set their goals high.”

    Morgan Woodrum placed 10th overall for Glenwood. Teammates Charley Arno and Bobi Joe Rockwell were12th and 15th, respectively..

  • Rams seventh at Atlantic

    The Glenwod boys golf team squared placed seventh in a match up of the top teams in Western Iowa on Wednesday in Atlantic.

    Kuemper Catholic was the team champion of the Atlantic Tournamanet with a final socre of 314. Atlantic was third with a 319. Glenwood finished with 341 strokes,

    Justin Livingston of Winterset shot a 72 to garner top honors.

    Jake Schoening led Glenwoood with a round of 82.

    “A fantastic round for him,” said Glenwood coach Steve Sylvester.

  • Johnny's Quest

    If Glenwood long distance runner Johnny Fuller has any questions about what it takes to win a gold medal at the state track meet, he need look no further than Ram assistant coach Todd Peverill.

    Peverill knows a thing or two about state gold medals. As a gangly, long-haired senior at Waterloo East in 1979, Peverill blistered the Drake Stadium Track to a state-meet record of 4:13.65 in the 1,600-meters. It’s a record that stands to this day.

  • Glenwood girls send nine to state

    The Glenwood girls track team placed second at the Class 3A Regionals at Winterset on Friday with the Rams advancing in nine events to the Iowa State Track Meet this week is Des Moines.

    Atlantic ran away with the team title with 173 points to Glenwood's 121.

    “This was a very good meed, a lot of fun,” said Glenwood coach Brad Rasmussen. “I think what impressed me most about the meet was the crowd. They really got into cheering us on and I think that really helped. Having that crowd behind you really helps.”

  • Rams assured share of Hawkeye 10...

    The Glenwood girls soccer team has at lease a share of its first ever Hawkeye 10 Conference title with a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Council Bluffs Lewis Central last Tuesday.

    The Rams (10-1 overall, 6-0 in the conference) used two second half goals to pull out the win after going a game and a half without a goal.

  • Nikseresht becomes first Ram to...

    The Glenwood boys tennis team placed fifth at the Class 1A district tennis meet and Grant Nikseresht became the first boys tennis player from Glenwood to qualify for the Iowa Boys State Tennis Meet last Tuesday at Red Oak.

    Atlantic was the team champion with 19 points. Clarinda was third with 16 and Red Oak third with 11 team points.

    Seeded No. 2 at districts, Nikseresht defeated Red Oak’s Craig White 7-5, 6-3 and Atlantic’s Bryant Johnson 6-0, 6-2 in the opening rounds.
