  • Rams Punch Ticket To State

     

    Set pieces don’t get executed more perfectly.

    Scout Crow’s assist on a pitch perfect corner kick connected perfectly to Andy Staiert who headed in a goal to break a deadlocked 1-1 tie and give Glenwood the lead for good in a 3-1 Class 2A Substate championship victory over Harlan Saturday.

    For Staiert, the Rams’ top defensive sweeper, his second goal of the season couldn’t have come at a bigger moment.

  • Glenwood girls 24th, boys 22nd...

    DES MOINES - Mavrick Decker became the first Glenwood freshman track athlete to run in four events in two decades and the Glenwood girls’ 4x100-meter relay team placed in the top five once again at the Iowa State Track and Field Meet in Des Moines.

    The Glenwood girls won three medals to place 24th as a team in the Class 3A rankings. Davenport Assumption was the girls team champion with 107 points. The boys also won three medals and finished in a tie for 22nd place. Solon was the boys champion with 50 points.

    DES MOINES - The East Mills boys track team placed 25th at the Iowa State Track and Field Meet in Des Moines this past weekend.

    Mount Ayr was the boys Class 1A team champion with 77 points.

    The Wolverines qualified in five events and came home with medals in three, finishing with nine team points.

  • Glenwood boys, girls qualify in...

    ATLANTIC - The Glenwood boys won their fourth straight district title and the girls placed second at the Class 3A districts held in Atlantic Thursday.

    The boys and girls each qualified in 10 events for this week’s Iowa State Track Meet at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. Class 3A competition gets underway with the field events beginning at 2 p.m. Thursday.

    CRESTON – Rain, lightening and Cyclones couldn’t stop the Glenwood track teams from winning this Hawkeye 10 Conference title.

    The Ram girls, second at the conference meet a year ago, battled thunderstorms that resulted in a 40-minute delay and five-time defending conference champion Harlan to win  their first conference title in 39 years.  Glenwood’s girls racked up 147.5 points to easily out-point the Cyclones’ 116 points for the title at Creston Thursday.

  • East Mills boys, F-M girls...

    Kelsey Hurley won four gold medals and Travis Tupper three as the Fremont-Mills girls and the East Mills boys track teams repeated as Corner Conference champions in Tabor last Tuesday.

    For the second straight season, Hurley won gold in the 100, 200, 400 and the high jump to pace the Knight girls with 40 of their meet-best 151 team points. Sidney was a distant runner-up with 116 points. Hurley personally out-scored all five teams at the conference meet.

  • Rams stay perfect in Hawk-10

    The Glenwood boys tennis team wrapped up a perfect district dual record this season with a 6-3 victory over Council Bluffs  St. Albert last Tuesday.

    The Rams, 7-0 in duals this season and tied with Council Bluffs Lewis Central atop the Hawkeye 10 Conference standings, won four of six singles matches and two of three in doubles to wrap up the victory over St. Albert.

    Glenwood’s No. 2 player Cole Peckham won his singles match 8-5 over Cody Gesser and then paired with Max Chavez to down Gesser and Brandon Carlson 8-5 in the No. 1 doubles match.

  • Glenwood boys soccer 2-1 at...

    The Glenwood boys soccer team dropped its opener and bounced back to win its next two matches at the Waverly-Shell Rock Invitational on Saturday.

    The Rams (10-3 overall, 5-0 in the Hawkeye 10 Conference) opened the tournament flat against Clear Lake and never seemed to get on track in a 1-0 loss. Glenwood followed the opening round loss with a 2-1 win over Columbus Catholic and a 2-0 victory over Fort Dodge.

  • Glenwood girls, boys sweep Coed...

    For the second straight season, the Glenwood girls and boys track teams swept the team titles at their own Coed Ram Relays.

    The boys racked up seven gold medals and the girls’ five golds to win the 21st annual co-ed event last Monday.
    Glenwood’s boys finished with 160.5 team points to runner up Council Bluffs St. Albert’s 104 points. Harlan was third with 96 team points. The girls easily out-paced runner -up Shenandoah 183.4 to 95.7 in the team scoring.

  • East Mills boys win Fremont-...

    TABOR - The East Mills boys cruised to the team title at the Fremont-Mills Coed Track meet Friday in Tabor.
    The Wolverines racked up 164 teams points to the host Knights’ 115 team points.

    The Wolverines got four gold medal performances from Travis Tupper. The senior won the 100, 200 and 400 and anchored the 4x400-meter relay to gold.

    Joey Kammering (800-meters), Sam Rew (high jump, 110-meter hurdles), Michael Story (long jump) and the 4x800-meter relay team added gold medals for East Mills.
