        TABOR - Fremont-Mills rallied from down seven runs and recorded a triple-play to end the game in East Mills 10-9 in Corner Conference baseball last Tuesday.
        “Another night, another blown lead,” said East Mills coach Cole Buchholz.  
        The Wolverines (5-4 overall, 5-2 in the conference) sprinted out to a 7-0 lead before errors and some hitting by the Knights allowed Fremont-Mills (6-5 overall, 5-2 in the conference) to take the lead heading into the ninth.

  • Rams drop two at Treynor tourney

        The Glenwood softball team’s struggles at the plate continued Saturday in a pair of losses at the Treynor Invitational Softball Tournament.
        The Rams (17-4 overall, 7-1 in the conference) lost the opener to the host Cardinals before falling to Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln in the capper, 4-2.
        “No excuses,” said Glenwood coach Tim Stanton. “We got home late the night before. The Waukee loss was a tough one but Treynor threw and played great and we didn’t.”

        TABOR - Kyle Fichter couldn’t have been happier to see “0” in his team’s box score.
        For the first time this season Fichter’s Knights didn’t commit an error and it proved the difference in an 11-1 win over East Mills in Corner Conference softball last Tuesday.

  • Rams drop 3-1 decision

        Spalding Catholic handed Glenwood a 3-1 loss in a non-conference match up on Saturday in Elk Point, S.D.
        The Rams (12-5 overall, 7-0) in the conference had 10 hits but just two went for extra-bases in the loss.
        Alex Forbes was 2-for-3 with a double and Nolan Robinson was 1-for-3 with a double.
        Corey Bertini took the loss on the hill after allowing five hits, just one earned run and striking out eight.

  • Rams Advance To State Semifinals

    MUSCATINE - McKenzie Evans' goal in the fifth and final shot of a shootout lifted the Glenwood girls soccer team a to 1-1 (5-4) victory in the Class 2A quarterfinals at the Iowa State Girls Soccer Tournament on Thursday.

        The Rams will face North Scott in today's semifinals at 4:45 p.m. North Scott (11-9) handed Glenwood its lone loss, by a shootout, in May.

  • Wolverines win in rout, 51-6

        The East Mills football team snapped a four-game losing skid with a 51-6 victory over West Monona on Friday in Sloan.
        The Wolverines (4-5 overall, 3-4 in District 8) forced four turnovers and limited West Monona to 210 total yards in the dominating win.
        East Mills finished with 248 yards rushing to the Spartans’ 106. Colby Jennings ran for a game-high 122 yards and a touchdown. Caleb Barney added 79 yards on the ground and a 52 yard touchdown pass from Logan Currin.

  • East Mills can’t get past Treynor

        TREYNOR — A flurry of runs late by Treynor ended East Mills’ baseball season with a 14-2 loss in five innings Thursday night in the Class 1A, District 16 semifinals at Treynor High School.
        Treynor scored 10 runs in the last two innings, including six in the fifth, to win the game via the 10-run rule.
        “They’re a good team,” East Mills Coach Cole Buchholz said after the game. “They hit the ball one through nine and everybody can hit.”

                Call them tears of joy and heartache.

                Lucy and her Glenwood girls soccer teammates had just won its third straight regional title game on Monday and qualified for the state soccer tournament. Teammates hugged, some cried, and the crowd of more than 300 on hand cheered the hometown Rams.
