Incidents
    April 20 – Kwik Shop of Glenwood reported a gas drive off.
    April 21 – Jeffrey Bell of Tabor reported a theft and criminal mischief.
    April 26 – Cynthia Schenck of Glenwood reported a theft.

Mustangs nip Rams, 5-4 in tennis

The Glenwood boys tennis team lost a  close 5-4 decision to Shenandoah last Wednesday in a match played indoors at the Montgomery County YMCA in Red Oak due to weather conditions.  

Rams’ No. 1 player Joe Gunkelman played his most consistent game of the season against the Fillies’ Jacob Holmes at the No. 1 singles spot but fell 10-6 to the senior.

Max Chavez and Cole Peckham continued their winning streaks beating their opponents 10-7 and 10-3, respectively.  

Former Glenwood Heights undergoing facelift

  Jerry Moore has a vision for Glenwood Heights.
  Not the least of which was the name of the apartment complex at 301 Ebaugh St. that had fallen into disrepair and was plagued by what Moore called “a bad element” under previous owners.

Moms at Home, Moms at Work

  Mother.  
  The woman who traditionally bakes cookies, bandages boo-boos, tells her kids to pick up their bedrooms and so much more.  Many people mature, leave home and then see their parents occasionally.
  The three mothers in this story all have their daughters beside them in the workplace. The three daughters are all very grateful to have their mothers there, learning life’s lessons – even as adults.

Mother, Teacher, Blogger

A Glenwood preschool teacher and single mother of two children is making a name for herself as a blogger for a San Francisco-based website geared toward issues of interest to women.

“The website is Lipstick and Politics and I’m not the lipstick” Bobbi Jo Rohrberg said during a recent interview.

“I’m not into fashion and entertainment. The politics is what I like most, but I’m also a single mom who’s been through divorce so I also like to write things for co-parenting and general parenting.”

Preschool Teacher Wins Lakin Award

Northeast Elementary preschool teacher Liz Jensen is one of two recipients of the prestigious Charles E. Lakin Outstanding Teacher Award for 2013.

A surprised Jensen was presented the award Monday afternoon at an all-school assembly in the school gymnasium.

Mills County Sheriff Report 5/8/13

Incidents
    April 22 - Michelle Morrical of Tabor reported a theft.
Accidents
    April 29 – A vehicle driven by Jack Groves of Glenwood was eastbound on Gaston Avenue when a second vehicle driven by Mary Cooper of Glenwood was pulling out of a driveway and did not see Groves’ vehicle. Groves took evasive action but could not avoid a collision with Cooper’s vehicle.

Glenwood girls, boys sweep Co-Ed Relays

The Glenwood girls and boys swept the team titles at the 20th annual Co-Ed Ram Relays last Tuesday.

The boys more than doubled runner up Council Bluffs St. Albert in the team scores, 222 to 110. The Glenwood girls racked up a decisive 206 to 122 win over second place Shenandoah.

The win gives the Glenwood boys undefeated home meets in their careers.
