A spokesman for the Iowa Department of Transportation  (IDOT) told The Opinion-Tribune Tuesday the redesigned Highway 34 - Interstate 29 interchange in western Mills County should be opened to traffic on Thursday, Oct. 16 - weather permitting.

There is also hope the Highway 34 - Missouri River bridge linking Mills County with Sarpy County, Neb., could open as soon as next Wednesday, Oct. 22, following a formal dedication ceremony involving Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad, Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman and other dignitaries from the two states.
