  • Rams’ season ends in regional semifinals

    NORWALK - It was too much Taylor Good and too little offense for Glenwood in its Class 4, Region 7 semifinal on Saturday.

    Norwalk’s sophomore pitcher limited Glenwood to three singles, fanned nine and faced just four over the minimum in a 5-0 victory that ended the Rams’ season.

    “She was tough,” Glenwood coach Mark Starner said. “We only saw about five pitchers like her all year. We don’t see enough pitchers like her. She was tough on us all night.”

  • Fremont-Mills’ season ends in extra-innings

    TABOR - Essex plated five runs in the top of the ninth inning to edge Fremont-Mills 8-3 in Class 1A, Region 7 softball in Tabor last Wednesday.

    The Trojanns had rallied once before, scoring two runs in the top of the seventh to force extra innings after the Knights entered the frame with a 3-1 lead.

  • Body Found In Mo. River Still Unidentified

    As of Tuesday, authorities had yet to identify the decomposed body of a man found in the Missouri River south of the Plattsmouth Bridge in western Mills County.

    A camper found the body Wednesday, July 2, around 4:45 p.m. The body had some clothing and identifying markings, including tattoos. An autopsy was performed by the Douglas County (Neb.) Medical Examiner’s Office.

    Mills County Sheriff Eugene Goos said the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is assisting in the investigation.

        The Summer Food Service Program is sponsored by the Glenwood Community School District and is free to all children ages 18 and under. The program will run through July 25 at the following locations and times:
        Glenwood Middle School, 400 Sivers Road. Breakfast 8 - 9 a.m., lunch 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
        Kid’s Place Daycare, 103 Central, first floor at the Glenwood Resource Center campus. Breakfast 8 – 8:30 a.m., lunch 11 - 11:45 a.m. Limited seating is available.

  • Hall of Fame Coach

    Tabor resident and 1970 Glenwood Community High School graduate Dixie (Detlef) Trask has been inducted into the New York State High School Softball Hall of Fame. She was among 18 inductees recognized by the New York State Sportswriters and Coaches Organization for Girls Sports during a June 21 ceremony at the Mudville Softball Complex in Herkimer, New York.
