    Let’s Rock -N- Roll over cancer is the theme of the 2009 Mills County Relay For Life:

    The Mills County Relay for Life Entertainment and Activities Schedule for June 13 -14 is as follows:

    Saturday, June 13

    4 p.m. - Event Kick-off and Team Lap (line-up begins at 3:45). Prayer by Pastor Mike Stevens (United Methodist Minister for Hillsdale, Pacific Junction and Silver City); Flag Ceremony - presentation by Cub Scouts Troop 432 and Boy Scouts Troop 243; Star Spangled Banner - Lake Park Quartet.

    4:30 p.m. Sheltered Reality.

  • Melody Wranglers returning to amphitheater

    The Melody Wranglers kick it up with old style country, western swing and honky-tonk music. They tip their hats to such country music greats as Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Bob Wills, Buck Owens, Dolly Parton and Merle Haggard. Each of the Wranglers has over 30 years of professional music experience and all are former members of the legendary Nebraska country-swing band, Sour Mash. Wrangler members have recorded on numerous albums and CDs, performed on radio and TV and have won awards at music festivals across the country.

  • Rams 1-2 at St. Albert tourney

    The Glenwood softball team went 1-2 at the Council Bluffs St. Albert Softball Tournament on Saturday.

    The Rams knocked off the host Saintes in the opener, 11-1. Molly Bryan hit a two-run homer and pitched a complete-game, striking out nine and allowing two hits and one earned run.

    Glenwood (9-4 overall, 3-2 in the Hawkeye 10 Conference) scored five runs in a decisive fifth inning that saw Nicole Charland, Ana VanScoy and Jordan Ruhr all double. VanScoy drove in three runs in the inning.

    The Glenwood softball team went 1-2 at the Council Bluffs St. Albert Softball Tournament on Saturday.

    The Rams knocked off the host Saintes in the opener, 11-1. Molly Bryan hit a two-run homer and pitched a complete-game, striking out nine and allowing two hits and one earned run.

  • Fremont-Mills smacks 14 in 15-7 win over Sidney

    Thomas Ware and Dylan Miller combined to drive in 11 runs for the Fremont-Mills baseball team in a 15-7 Corner Conference victory over Sidney on Thursday.

    Ware was 4-for-6 at the plate with a double and five RBIs and Miller was also 4-for-6 with six RBIs.

    Knight coach Dennis Hammer was happy with his team’s offensive production but was disappointed with his team’s 11 strikeouts - and their inability to put the Cowboys away with a seven run lead.

    Donahue, a senior shortstop, was 4-for-5 at the plate with a pair of doubles and two runs driven in.

    Pitcher Mindy Lorimor, who struck out 13 and scattered five hits over six innings of work to earn the win in the circle, helped her own cause with two hits and three RBIs.
