  • ENGAGEMENT - Alyssa Stege-Tompsett/Michael Mayberry

    Alyssa Stege-Tompsett and Michael Mayberry are planning an Aug. 28, 2009, wedding at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Lincoln, Neb.

    Parents of the couple are Marlene Stege and James Tompsett of Lincoln, Neb., and Tim and Mary Mayberry of Glenwood.

    The bride-elect attended Nebraska Wesleyan University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Her fiance graduated with an associate’s degree in criminal justice from ITT Technical Institute and is currently working at First National Bank.

    A Monday afternoon walk-through tour of the new high school building left Glenwood Community School District officials still feeling confident that the facility will be up and running on Aug. 26, the first day of the 2009-2010 school year.

    Four members of the Glenwood Board of Education were joined by about two dozen citizens from the community as they toured the school with GCSD Superintendent Dr. Stan Sibley, contractors and architects.

    Iowa Lt. Gov. Patty Judge made a brief appearance in Glenwood Friday during an on-going tour designed to promote tourism in the state.

    Judge visited the Glenwood Indian Earth Lodge and also toured the Native American artifact room at the Mills County Historical Museum in Glenwood Lake Park.

    The Glenwood School Board voted 4-1 last Monday at its monthly meeting to give across-the-board raises to the district’s classified non-union employees, non-certified union employees, administrators and Superintendent Dr. Stan Sibley.
