  • County Candidate Forum

The Mills County Republican Party Central Committee is sponsoring a political forum for all Mills County candidates on the ballot in next month’s general election.
The forum will take place Thursday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m., at the Glenwood American Legion, 104 N. Vine St.
Coordinator John Yates said the forum will feature a “question and answer format” and is open to the general public.
The following candidates are expected to take part in the forum:

  • Gone, But Not Forgotten

There are many traditions associated with Glenwood Homecoming, but none more meaningful than a ritual carried out every five years by the Glenwood Community High School Class of 1965.

  • Knights rout Villisca, 69-14

The Fremont-Mills football team bolted out to a 48-0 first quarter lead en route to a 69-14 victory over Villisca on Homecoming night in Tabor on Friday.

  • Stivers’ career day not enough for Rams

Grant Stivers’ 339-yard passing night in his first career start wasn’t enough for Glenwood in a 26-13 loss to Atlantic on Friday.

  • Fremont-Mills sweeps Wolverines

Fremont-Mills used its aggressive attack to sweep East Mills 25-3, 25-10, 25-14 in Corner Conference volleyball last Tuesday.

  • Glenwood edges T.J. at Harlan Invite

For the second race in a row Glenwood’s Johnny Fuller and Mark Abrams were first and second and the Rams ran away with the team title at a Hawkeye 10 Conference cross country meet.
On Saturday the Rams edged Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson by two points, 71 to 73, after Fuller (16:40) and Abrams (16:55) swept the top two spots.

  • Balanced Wolverines too much for Rebels

East Mills’ balanced offense put up 55 first-half points in a 62-6 defeat of South Page on Friday in Eight Man, District 8.

  • Rams leap over Cyclones

“It was a very fun bus ride home,” said Glenwood coach Kara Huisman.
Defeating Harlan as the Rams did Tuesday night in a 22-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-22 victory on the Cyclones’ home court is liable to do that.
