  • ENGAGEMENT - Lorilee Fleming / Tyson Conn

        Lorilee Fleming  of Glenwood and Tyson Conn of Sioux Falls, S.D., have announced their engagement and approaching wedding.


        The bride-to-be is the daughter of Eileen Fleming and the late Bill Fleming. Her fiance is the son of Dan and Pam Conn of Sioux Falls.
        The couple met at and graduated from Augustana College in Sioux Falls.
        An Oct. 23, 2010, wedding is planned at Heartland Community Church in Sioux Falls.

  • County-wide Reappraisal

        The Mills County Assessor's Office is currently in the process of a county-wide reappraisal.
        When all is said and done, the assessor’s office, with the assistance of an outside contractor, will have reappraised more than 17,000 parcels in the county sometime next year.

        Two matters confronting the Glenwood City Council were put on hold last week - the completion of sidewalk repair work on Town Square and the potential sale of property that once housed the city’s outdoor swimming pool.

        The board voted unanimously last Monday at its regular monthly board meeting to rotate the board’s meetings during the 2010-2011 school year between Glenwood, Mineola, Silver City and Pacific Junction.

  • Omaha man dies in I-29 crash

        An Omaha man was killed on Interstate 29 Monday when he attempted to make a U-turn in a construction zone south of Glenwood.

        John L. Agnew, 74, of Omaha died when his pick-up truck was struck by a southbound semi-truck shortly after 8:45 a.m. Monday.

  • Glenwood taking board meetings on the road

        The Glenwood Community School District Board of Directors is about to take its show on the road.
        The board voted unanimously last Monday at its regular monthly board meeting to rotate the board’s meetings during the 2010-2011 school year between Glenwood, Mineola, Silver City and Pacific Junction.
        Glenwood Superintendent Devin Embray spearheaded the proposal, modeling the plan to rotate venues after a similar schedule at his former school district in the Independence Community School District.
