  • GCHS Has Plans For Courtyard

    Betsy Maryott looks out her classroom window overlooking the courtyard at Glenwood Community High School and she doesn’t see a green space.

    At least, not a true green space.

    So Maryott, a science teacher at the high school, decided to do something about it. For years she’s bandied about the idea of better utilizing the courtyard at the high school.

    Her idea?

        Gregory Jones, Missouri Valley – O.W.I., pleaded guilty, sentenced to six days in county jail with credit for time served, may complete Urban Dreams program, driver’s license suspended for 180 days, ordered to pay $1,250 fine, court costs and fees.

        Matthew DeMorest, Pacific Junction – found to be in violation of terms of probation, second-degree theft, pleaded guilty, ordered to pay $750 fine, court costs and fees.

  • City Hopeful YMCA Agreement Will Secure Grant

        Some T’s still need to be crossed and some I’s dotted, but Glenwood City Administrator Brian Kissel said the YMCA of Greater Omaha intends to sign a contractual agreement with the city to manage the Charles E. Lakin Aquatic Center.
        

    The proposed $4.7 million aquatic center would be built on property adjacent to Glenwood Community High School.

    Accidents
        March 6 – A school bus driven by Brian Pavelka of Glenwood was attempting to back to the curb at the circle drive at Glenwood Community High School when the bus struck a legally parked vehicle. No injuries were reported.
