  • Feeling At Home

    Genie Wickham and Shane Stephens have something more in common than being first-year principals in the Glenwood Community School District.

    For both Wickham and Stephens, Glenwood is a sort of homecoming.

    Wickham is a 1985 Glenwood Community High School graduate and Stephens, also a 1985 graduate, is a Stanton native who still calls southwest Iowa home after serving as an administrator in Davenport and Perry.

    People walking in the door of the Glenwood Pet Lodge are often greeted by a tan and white Jack Russell terrier named Gracie.  Gracie, the unofficial operations manager, sniffs at patron’s hands and wags her tail back and forth.

  • Let the Construction Begin!

    Construction of the Mills County Law Enforcement Center and Jail has begun.

    County officials took part in a formal ground-breaking ceremony last Wednesday, Aug. 7 –  exactly one year from the day Mills County residents approved construction of the $6.4 million facility by a 69 - 31-percent margin. The building, which will house the county jail and sheriff’s offices, will be built in an industrial area of Glenwood at 500 Railroad Ave., on a tract of land directly south of the Mills County Engineer’s building.
