The annual Keg Creek Days celebration takes place this weekend at Glenwood Lake Park.

A variety of activities are planned beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday and 7 a.m. on Sunday.

Saturday’s activities include children’s games and activities, a lawn mower poker run and a benefit concert for the Davies Amphitheater roof repair project. Sunday’s highlights are an antique machinery show and shine, heritage demonstrations and entertainment.

Pie Baking Contest

MALVERN –Extension Director Sherry Ford is losing her job at the end of the month, which means the citizens of Mills County are losing a valuable community resource.

Thanks to a cost-cutting restructuring plan announced earlier this summer by Iowa State University, Ford and her fellow county extension directors from across the state are having their positions eliminated and replaced by regional directors who will serve multiple counties at one time. The impact will be felt across the state.

Bruce and Roxanne Nielsen of Lake Benton, Minn., and Dalton and Chari Frederickson of Sheridan, Wyo., have announced the upcoming marriage of their daughter, Noelle Nielsen, to Aaron Morford, the son of Scott and Lisa Morford of Dakota Dunes, S.D.

Ms. Nielsen graduated from Lake Benton High School in 2004 and is currently employed as a nanny in Brookings, SD.

Pending final approval of the state fire marshal, the new Glenwood Community High School will welcome students on the first day of school with the rest of the Glenwood School District.

School begins in the district Aug. 26. High school juniors and seniors will report that same day at the high school. Freshmen and sophomores will start the following day. Classes begin at 8:05 a.m.
