Britni Hansen and Todd Myers of Glenwood have announced their engagement and approaching wedding.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Michael and Darcy Yocum of Glenwood and Brian Hansen of Running Springs, Calif. She’s employed at Greco Insurance in Papillion, Neb., as an independent agent.

Her fiance is the son of Doug and Sharon Myers of Glenwood. He’s a supervisor with Thermal Services Heating and Air in Omaha.

A Sept. 12, 2009, wedding is planned at The Fountains Ballroom.

The Glenwood Resource Center has found its new superintendent.

R. Scot Booth, a longtime consultant and disabled services administrator, was announced as the resource center’s new superintendent in a press release by the Iowa Department of Human Services last Wednesday.

“Scot brings a wealth of experience and energy to this work and I’m pleased that he accepted this position,” said Charles Krogmeier, the state’s director of human services.

A fire ravaged a vacant home northwest of Glenwood Monday morning.

Shortly after 11 a.m., a neighbor called the Mills County Communications Center to report smoke and flames coming from a house at 20318 Falden Road.

When fire departments from Glenwood and Pacific Junction arrived, the structure was engulfed in flames.

According to the Mills County Assessor’s office, the house, which is located west of Pony Creek Lake, is owned by Darrel and Linda Wilson of Bellevue, Neb.

MALVERN - A 57-year-old Glenwood man died Sunday afternoon following a motorcycle accident near Malvern.

Charles Edward Wagner died from injuries sustained in a crash near 310th Street and Paddock Ave. shortly after 4 p.m., according to a report from the Iowa State Patrol.

Investigators determined Wagner was riding a 2001 Victory motorcycle southbound on 310th Street near Paddock when he lost control of the bike. The motorcycle crashed and overturned after the wheels dropped onto to the right shoulder of the road, according to the report.
