  • Glenwood boys track win four golds at Sioux City Relays

        Despite being hit by what coach Mark Starner called the “prom bug” the Glenwood boys track team still managed four gold medals at the Sioux City Relays on Saturday.
        “We had a lot of athletes leave the meet early to get back to prom,” said Starner. “We ran things well despite the bitter cold and gusty head winds down the home stretch. It would have been interesting to see how many more athletes would have had the opportunity to stand on the awards stand had we not had a conflict with prom.”

  • Jensen’s late goal carries Glenwood to Hawk-10 win

        The Glenwood boys soccer team got their second straight Hawkeye 10 Conference shutout with a 1-0 victory over Kuemper Catholic on Thursday in Carroll.

        The Rams’ Tyler Jensen booted in a goal with :47 left in the game to seal the victory for Glenwood.
        “It wasn’t a sloppy game but it wasn’t that pretty either,” said Glenwood coach Mike Artist.

        The Glenwood girls soccer team went on the road last Tuesday and earned its second win of the season with a 4-0 victory over Denison.

        A fiery train collision Sunday morning in Montgomery County, between Emerson and Red Oak, claimed the lives of two Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) railroad employees. As of press time Tuesday, the victims’ names had not been released.
