  • Wolverines win in rout, 51-6

        The East Mills football team snapped a four-game losing skid with a 51-6 victory over West Monona on Friday in Sloan.
        The Wolverines (4-5 overall, 3-4 in District 8) forced four turnovers and limited West Monona to 210 total yards in the dominating win.
        East Mills finished with 248 yards rushing to the Spartans’ 106. Colby Jennings ran for a game-high 122 yards and a touchdown. Caleb Barney added 79 yards on the ground and a 52 yard touchdown pass from Logan Currin.

  • Knights knock off Lenox, will open playoffs against CR-Bayard

        Fremont-Mills overcame five turnovers to down Lenox 42-18 in the Eight-Man, District 1 regular season final for both teams.
        The Knights (8-1 overall, 6-1 in the district) got 191 yards rushing and three touchdowns from Clayton Wilson. Wilson also completed two passes for 70 yards and a touchdown.
        Austin Switzer was 2-of-6 passing for 61 yards and a touchdown toss.

  • Glenwood closes with road victory

        The Glenwood football team wrapped up its season with a 28-21 upset victory over Atlantic on Friday.

     On a bright Saturday afternoon, Quentin Marquez takes the field in Kinnick Stadium, home of the Iowa Hawkeye football team. Wearing a foot-high, blazing white hat with a bright yellow plume, he leads the 250-member Hawkeye Marching Band into position. The late-September weather is brisk, but Marquez’s drum major uniform - as well as the body heat of 70,000 fans - keeps him warm.

        Construction has begun on more than $1.5 million in renovations to the Mills County Courthouse.

  • Fugitives Arrested In Colorado

        A  pair of Michigan fugitives who stole a vehicle in Glenwood as part of a two-week crime spree have been apprehended in Colorado.
        Kenneth Grauman II, 32, and Greg Bradshaw, 23, were arrested in a hotel in Canon City, Colo., on Thursday by Canon City Police and the U.S. Marshals Service.
        The pair had walked away from  a halfway house in Lake County, Mich., on Sept. 29 leading to a two-week, multi-state manhunt.
