    Summertime to many people equates with thoughts of eating grilled corn on the cob and fresh rhubarb pie made from home-grown produce. The modern lifestyle, however, may mean fewer people actually pick the produce from their own gardens and are more often turning to farmers’ markets.

    Accidents
        May 30 - A garbage can fell off a garbage truck on westbound Highway 34 and lodged in the bumper of a second westbound vehicle driven by Kim Clark of Glenwood.

        June 6 – A vehicle driven by Lisa Boone of Omaha was attempting to pull into a parking stall when a second vehicle, driven by Jeff McKinney of Glenwood, approaching from behind, failed to notice and struck the rear of Boone’s vehicle. No injuries were reported.

    Peggy Gurney, Red Oak – operating a motor vehicle on an expired license, pleaded guilty, ordered to pay a $50 fine, court costs and fees.

    Robert Joe Coddington, Red Oak - possession of a controlled substance, pleaded guilty, deferred judgment, one year probation, ordered to pay $315 civil penalty, court costs and fees.

  • City Testing The Water On 'Option 2' Plan For Pool

    The Glenwood City Council has given city administrator Brian Kissel the green light to finalize the details of an “Option 2” funding plan for a $4.7 million aquatic center on property adjacent to Glenwood Community High School.

    In May, Glenwood residents failed to pass a bond issue for construction of the facility. The measure received the approval of 52 percent of voters, but 60 percent was needed for passage.

  • Former Teacher Arrested May 30 Was Initially Investigated By School District Last December

    A former Glenwood Community High School social studies and communications teacher who is suspected of having sex with a student and supplying alcohol to another student at his rural Glenwood home was the subject of an initial investigation by the Glenwood Community School District six months ago.
